Congratulations! You have just found out that you are pregnant! You’re excited, curious, and at the same time you may even be fearful of the process of childbirth. Regardless of whether you are a single mother, have a loving & supporting partner or a scared-silly partner, there are always support and resources available to you. It’s never too early to start preparing for childbirth, and in this case, the sooner the better.
1. Choose Your Pregnancy Care Provider Wisely
From doctors, gynae, confinement nannies to external antenatal care providers.
Take your time and interview yours and your baby’s primary care practitioner. Do not feel obligated to select a practitioner because you saw their ads online or through a forum. You need to feel comfortable with your practitioner, and they need to answer all of your questions and respect your wishes.
2. Educate Yourselves: Read relevant books or do your research
Refresh your knowledge of childbirth and begin to connect to your body and growing baby. Visit your local library, borrow books from friends, or purchase such books.
Explore the various laboring options such as birthing at home, in a hospital or at a birthing center. Begin to ask questions and take the appropriate measures to solidify your labor environment. or simply read Rejoice Pregnancy’s articles on www.rejoicepregnancy.com/blog
3. Get Enough Rest
Getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night, and if needed, a nap during the day is key. Your body needs to restore itself daily for it is being required to work harder than normal. One does not have to be pregnant to know that being tired causes us to be cranky, achy and weaker than usual. You want to be as rested as possible to endure your labor. Labor can be a 4 hour event, a 12 hour event, or even a 30+ hour event.
4. Find Support
It is beneficial for continuous support for a mother during her pregnancy. Any questions and concerns about the process of labor, the orders the medical staff may call out, etc. – Rejoice Pregnancy’s Birth Preparation program is here to help guide you and give you the emotional and physical support you need before labor.
5. Relax and Unwind
The more at ease a woman is, the better able she is to deal with the challenges of labor
Although added pressure might seem like the last thing you’d want during labor. But touch can help ease a woman’s tense body. Massage releases endorphins, the brain’s feel-good chemicals. A neck or foot rub can do wonders to take a woman’s mind off her contractions.
One of the highlights of our “Lactation Therapy with Birth Preparation” service is that our Maternal Health Visitors can help mothers who are at their 30 week to prepare and encourage vaginal birth by loosening the cervix, pelvic and perineal muscles.
Rejoice Pregnancy wishes to educate, prepare and support new parents throughout their pre/post pregnancy period while caring for the health and wellness of the mom.
